The Wasatch Camera Club’s major event for 2017 looks to be a winner. This year’s attendance was 192 registrants and that’s up 23% from last year at 156. With few exceptions, all comments were positive, including Snap Survey responses.

Photographer Adam Jones not only provided a huge library of amazing images, he took questions throughout his presentation and answered with thoughtful in-depth and informative answers. This dialogue between audience and presenter gets quickly to core issues of interest.

Attendees heard about telephoto lens applications not only for wildlife but making landscape “sections.” Additionally, Adam covered a more liberal use of higher ISOs, using F-16 when required, aperture priority, and a variety of recommendations for processing software.

Utah-based photographer Adam Barker implored attendees to, “shoot what you love.” He offered approaches to connect with your viewer and where possible include items that provide image context. He suggested that composition is our most dramatic tool. He is an advocate of using the “manual” camera setting 90% of the time and interestingly, hand holding filters in front of the lens. He especially recommends living in the moment with the image.

Thanks to our sponsors, Pictureline, Manfroto, and Canon. Special thanks to Jon Ballard who did a lot of heavy lifting in bringing our presenters to Salt Lake City.
