Capitol Reef by Night
Wasatch Camera Club members are invited to register for a weekend of nightscape photography. Join the club’s very own Shayne Shaw for a special trip to experience the dark skies of southern Utah.
If you’re excited about getting out with fellow photographers to capture the beautiful desert under the stars and Milky Way, this will be a perfect opportunity. Dark skies are becoming rare, and Capitol Reef National Park has some of the best viewing opportunities in the west. We’ll have two nights of group shooting, capturing the skies and the beautiful red rock formations. Although you may choose to sleep during the day, there are also ample daytime shooting opportunities throughout the area!
Please note: While this is not a workshop, if you’re new to nightscape photography and have technical questions, it is very likely your fellow shooters will be able to offer some useful tips and tricks.
Logistics: Participation on this trip is limited to 10. Registration is open now, and will remain open until May 6, 2017. Follow this link to add your name to the registration list. If more than 10 people sign up, we will conduct a lottery to determine the lucky winners. At that point, registrants will receive an email link to pay the nonrefundable $50 registration fee. Once the registration fee is paid, registrants will be provided information on how to reserve one of the rooms being held at a local motel.
Cost: In addition to the $50 registration fee, participants are responsible for their travel, lodging, and meals. Carpooling is highly encouraged!
